Social Network Connects Students with College Recruiters

Part Facebook, part e-portfolio, a new online service is connecting graduating high schoolers with college and career recruiters and letting students create shareable multimedia portfolios in the hopes of dazzling them.

The service, MyMozaic, features profiles offering a snapshot of a given student’s interests and accomplishments--e.g. videos, awards, academic achievements, articles from the school paper--on a network accessible by not only their peers, but also college and job recruiters, who can search the database for students matching their needs.

According to the company, in order to prevent unsolicited communication, both students and recruiters must consciously accept connections before making direct contact. Students can, however, follow recruiters in order to keep in touch with public announcements.

Recruiters can also follow students and, in a competitive twist, invite unregistered students to fill out profiles and view other recruiters who are following earmarked students.

A free lifetime membership is being offered to the first 5,000 individuals and organizations that sign up.
