Oracle Collaborates with Universities for Oracle Customer Strategic Design Program

As Oracle prepares to launch its new new cloud-based student information system for higher education, Oracle Student Cloud, in 2015, it has partnered with several universities to form the Oracle Customer Strategic Design Program, which is will "help shape the design and development of Oracle Student Cloud," according to the company.

Members of the Oracle Customer Strategic Design Program include Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, University of Texas System and the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Oracle invited the universities to participate in the program because they share the company's vision of "providing higher education institutions with a flexible, modern, cloud-based student information system," according to information from the company, and they will provide Oracle with guidance and domain expertise through the significant milestones and releases or Oracle Student Cloud.

The first phase of Oracle Student Cloud is planned for the 2015 calendar year. Phase 1 will provide functionality related to enrollment, payment and assessment, and it will integrate with Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud and Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning Cloud. According to Oracle, it is also "expected to include flexible core structures and an extensible architecture to manage a variety of traditional and nontraditional educational offerings." One component will be a mobile user interface that can be extended and branded for individual institutions.

Oracle has also joined Internet2, a not-for-profit advanced technology community of research and educational institutions. Oracle will offer its Oracle Higher Education Cloud services through the Internet2 NET+ service.
