Kira Talent Intros New Video Admissions Platform
Kira Talent has launched
Kira Academic, a video interviewing
platform designed for the admissions process.
According to the company, the platform helps admissions officers better
evaluate candidates' oral communication, problem solving and critical thinking
skills. Schools can create a bank of video and short answer written questions,
and then students can use the webcam on their computer or mobile device to
record their responses to video questions, or they can type their written
responses. According to the company, timed video responses can assess how well
candidates think under pressure, and timed written responses embedded in the
application can help ensure that the submitted content is authentic.
“Authenticity in higher education admissions applications has always been a
challenge,” said Craig Morantz, CEO of Kira Talent, in a prepared statement, adding that incorporating video interviews to the admissions process "allows
institutions to gain a deeper understanding of the applicant.”
Key features of Kira Academic include:
- Controls for pausing and skipping ahead through video interviews;
- Sharing applicant responses with admissions committee members for
collaborative review;
- Recording or uploading a bank of video questions to assess oral
communication, problem solving and critical thinking;
- Time limits on responses;
