Blackboard Learn Adds Caliper Analytics Certification

Blackboard's cloud-based learning management system, Blackboard Learn, has added certification for IMS Caliper standards.

Launched by IMS Global Learning Consortium, the Caliper Framework aims to standardize learning analytics across learning environments.

As a result of the certification, Blackboard Learn users will now be able to access learning data, dubbed an "event stream" within the standards, at no additional cost.

"Just as IMS Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) revolutionized the ease with which institutions can incorporate innovative products into the learning experience, IMS Caliper is designed to revolutionize the ease with which data can be used to improve those same experiences," said Rob Abel, chief executive of IMS Global, in a prepared statement. "Blackboard is providing bold leadership to the education sector by being the first organization to complete conformance certification to ensure interoperability is achieved across the ecosystem."
