NEC Display Solutions has unveiled a 55-inch display, the MultiSync X554HB, designed for use in areas with high ambient lighting.

The display features a brightness of 2700 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 5,000:1. Additional features include:

  • DVI-D, RGB (mini D-sub 15-pin), HDMI and DisplayPort 1.2 connectivity, along with a built-in Open Pluggable Specification slot;
  • NFC sensor to reduce installation costs; and
  • Quarter-lambda optimal film to improve readability for users wearing polarized sunglasses.

"Integrated into this unit are self-diagnosing and real-time temperature sensors that link to five thermodynamic cooling fans and act as a system to dissipate standing heat that can build up within the display," according to a news release. "On top of that, the liquid crystal panel itself contains a higher than conventional temperature rating of 110°C, which will greatly reduce the risk of the panel going isotropic in direct sunlit applications."

Available this month for $5,299, the X554HB comes with a three-year limited parts and labor warranty. Visit necdisplay.com for more information.
