Defense Department to Host Virtual College Fair

The Department of Defense's (DoD) Voluntary Education Program will host a virtual education college fair for active military personnel, veterans and family members.

The DoD has partnered with CollegeWeekLive for the event, which will allow participants "to chat online with education and benefit counselors about degree programs, career and technical certificate opportunities and financial aid options," according to a news release. "This online event also introduces new certificate programs that empower military personnel to gain the skills necessary for today's most in-demand careers while on active duty."

The fair will include video presentations, question and answer sessions with education experts and access to personal advice on issues such as returning to school, financial aid programs and GI Bill benefits.

"Navigating higher education can sometimes be daunting," said Dawn Bilodeau, chief of DoD Voluntary Education, in a prepared statement. "The DoD Virtual Education College Fair will give our active and veteran military personnel personal advice to help guide them through this often complex process. We're excited to provide a powerful way to help them realize their highest potential."
