Chalk & Wire Upgrades Eliminate Double Assessment, Offer Visual Reports

In an effort to help college and universities better assess education programs, Chalk & Wire today unveiled new features to its assessment platform that make it easier to evaluate student learning outcomes.

“For the first time in any e-portfolio-enabled assessment platform, faculty can grade for their specific course and also offer their expert opinion about how far each student has progressed toward graduation attributes envisioned by the institution,” said Geoff Irvine, CEO of Chalk & Wire, in a statement. “This is a game-changing opportunity to test student skills gained across whole programs or an entire general education offering, which can lead to discussions about ongoing program review and improvement.”

Additionally, a new supplemental instruments feature automatically generates two assessments for each student submission, allowing a work sample to be assessed for two purposes and eliminating double assessment. For example, one can be used to evaluate learning outcomes while the other can be used to test a new rubric.

Lastly, Chalk & Wire has added visual reports that enable institutions to do “on the fly” testing for rubrics and “clearly demonstrate assessment variances,” according to a news release.
