AWS Extends Cloud Ambassador Program to Students

Amazon Web Services has expanded its AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador Program to provide professional development resources and opportunities not just for educators, but also for students. The program launched last year to recognize educators who innovate with teaching cloud computing in the classroom.

College students can now apply to participate in the program and "gain real-life experience while helping their peers gain technical cloud skills," according to a news announcement. Those who are selected to become AWS Educate Student Ambassadors will receive:

  • Incremental AWS promotions credits;
  • Office hours with AWS solutions architects to receive technical advice;
  • Early under-NDA access to select AWS features and services;
  • Professional development opportunities at select AWS events;
  • Discounted registration rate for AWS re:Invent;
  • Physical and digital credentials to verify their participation; and
  • Quarterly AWS tech talks on AWS services.

"After launching our AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador Program for faculty in May 2019, the demand has been high for a student-focused program," explained Ken Eisner, director of worldwide education programs for AWS and head of AWS Educate, in a company blog post. "We are expanding the AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador Program to recognize and work closely with students who are interested in inspiring their peers to learn AWS Cloud skills."
