New Company Addresses Need for Campus COVID-19 Testing

A new company has formed specifically to provide COVID-19 testing and logistics services to universities and colleges. Campus Health Project has promised that it can generate test results in 24 to 48 hours, as part of helping institutions resume activities on campus, including college sports. Company executives include a former chairman of best practices from Quest Diagnostics and a founder of a managed services provider that caters to higher ed.
CHP's testing services set up the processes schools need to receive collection kits, send specimens and get test results back. Reporting is handled via dashboards and real-time alerts. For time-sensitive needs, the company has promised testing results within 24 hours.
"Higher education is in a race against time in ramping up preparations to combat the coronavirus pandemic before fall move in," said Chuck Brady, CHP's CEO, in a statement. Brady, who was the founder of Apogee, a higher ed-focused managed communications provider, noted that "by applying our turnkey solutions to smoothly integrate with existing sample collection processes, schools can access lab capacity and get quick results so that administrators and contact tracers have the critical tools they need to help control the spread of the virus."
Besides Brady, the company's leadership team includes Thomas Huard, formerly with Quest, serving as CHP's chief clinical laboratory advisor; David Williams, chief medical advisor, who also is the CEO of Ethizo, a company that makes an automation platform to streamline health and lab workflows; and Lee Smith, higher ed and legal advisor, who served as associate vice president for legal affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. Company headquarters is in Austin.
