Arcadia U Online 'Semester of Code' Program to Train Students in Job-Ready Tech Skills

Arcadia University is partnering with ed tech company 2U to launch an online Semester of Code program that will provide credit-bearing, market-relevant coding experiences for undergraduate students across the United States.

Offered through Arcadia's College of Global Studies, the Semester of Code comprises two offerings: a Full-Stack Coding Program for 16 credits and a Coding Internship Program for 12-16 credits. In the first, students will "learn to think and work as professional software engineers by making technical tradeoffs as they complete four major projects throughout the course of study," according to a news announcement. The second covers front-end web development, and gives students a chance to apply those skills in a real-world work environment through a virtual international internship.

Both programs are taught by industry experts, include both live online courses and self-student content, and offer on-demand learning assistance support.

"It's important for universities to offer a variety of innovative and applied learning opportunities to prepare students for a post-COVID workforce," said Jeff Rutenbeck, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs at Arcadia University, in a statement. "This coding program is a hands-on online education option for students that can provide them flexibility in their career searches."
