Syracuse U Taps Private Partner for Mobile App

Syracuse University has launched a new mobile application, Syracuse University Mobile, which is designed to provide smartphone and tablet users with anywhere, anytime access to university information and personal services.

GreyHeller, a provider of mobile and security software for Oracle PeopleSoft customers, developed the app for the university using its PeopleMobile platform, which provides mobile access to Oracle's PeopleSoft Campus Solutions application.

"With a rich mix of University information and personal services data, the app will help users engage sooner and easier with the institution and its faculty, staff and students," said Sam Scozzafava, interim CIO and vice president of Information Technology Services at Syracuse, in a news release.

Features of the Syracuse University Mobile app include:

  • Student grades for all semesters;
  • Class schedule for current term;
  • Class search for current and upcoming term;
  • Syracuse University news feed;
  • Campus maps;
  • Events calendar;
  • University directory;
  • Access to Syracuse University's Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram feeds.

GreyHeller and Syracuse University began working on the app in September 2014 and released it in August 2015. The next version of the app will include student access to exam schedules and faculty modules for class schedules, class rosters and grade rosters. The university will seek input from students to identify enhancements for future versions of the app.

The app is available as a free download for Apple and Android devices on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
