ProfCast Lecture Capture Software Enhances Export, Adds Presentation Software Detection

Humble Daisy has released an update to ProfCast, a software application designed for capturing and distributing classroom lectures as enhanced podcasts. ProfCast 2.2.1b2, a public beta of the presentation capture software, includes fixes and enhancements to previous releases and is available now for Mac OS X.

ProfCast is a tool for recording live presentations and screen captures, geared primarily toward classroom applications. It supports audio playthrough, export to GarageBand, and sharing via iWeb, as well as URL linking and ID3 tags for iTunes U, Apple's university-centric space within iTunes. It also includes an integrated Podcast Manager, which generates and publishes the supporting RSS feeds for podcasts.

The new update, the second released this month, includes fixes to publishing to local folders and publishing to SFTP. A number of other enhancements were also added to the first 2.2.1 release, which came out earlier this month. These include several bug fixes in the category of exporting and other functional enhancements. It also added presentation software detection.

ProfCast supports Mac OS X 10.4 through 10.5 on PowerPC- and Intel-based systems. The full version runs $59.95. More information can be found here.
