Moodle Gets Mediasite Classroom Capture Integration

Sonic Foundry has released a new module for Moodle called the Mediasite Content Module for Moodle. The new software provides integration between the open source learning management system and Sonic Foundry's Mediasite classroom capture and Webcasting suite.

Using the new software, lectures recorded in Mediasite can be published as learning content within Moodle. Instructors can add links to secure Mediasite content, and students can access the content without authenticating through the Mediasite server.

"Since we rely on Mediasite as our primary lecture delivery platform for our online courses, we are happy to hear this news. Seamless integration of the various elements of an online course, including the lecture, is very important to our faculty and students," said Thomas K. Miller, vice provost, distance education and learning technology applications at North Carolina State University, in a statement released by Sonic Foundry today. Mediasite is in use by some 600 colleges and universities.

Mediasite Content Module for Moodle is available now. It supports Moodle 1.9 and higher and requires Mediasite EX Server 5.0.1. An integration module is also available for Blackboard learning management systems.

Further information can be found on Sonic Foundry's site here or at Moodle's site here.
