CDW-G Launches Tools To Assess Virtualization Needs

Is your data center ripe for virtualization? New assessment services from CDW Government (CDW-G) have been launched to help answer just that question.

The new free tools are designed for K-12 and higher education institutions to help them determine the potential benefits of virtualization to their IT organizations, such as cost, capacity, resiliency and "green" benefits. (According to Campus Technology's own informal research, about 65 percent of higher education institutions said that virtualization will play a significant or extremely significant role in their organization's IT plans over the next three to five years.) The new tools include a Self-Guided Assessment and a Server Virtualization Assessment.

The Self-Guided Assessment provides users with a data collection tool and instructions for installation. The tool collects information about the organization's setup, which is later used to help make recommendations for a server virtualization solution. The Server Virtualization Assessment uses a CDW-G assessment team for installing the data collection tool and analyzing the data to make a recommendation.

Both the Self-Guided Assessment and the Server Virtualization Assessment are available for use now. Further information can be found here.
