Samsung Ships 30 FPS HD Document Camera

Samsung has launched a new classroom visual presentation system that supports 30 FPS output at native resolutions up to SXGA. (It also supports 30 FPS output at converted resolutions up to 1080p.)

The SDP-960 document camera integrates a 1.3 megapixel CMOS camera and can store still images and SD video on an SDHC card (up to 32 GB).

Other features of the SDP-960 are:

  • A built-in preview monitor;
  • Digital image rotation;
  • A mask function;
  • 2D/3D dual noise reduction technology;
  • A 48x combined zoom (6x optical, 8x digital);
  • Autofocus lens;
  • Built-in microphone.

AV inputs include dual RGB (mini D-sub 15-pin) with passthrough, audio minijack, and built-in microphone. AV outputs include DVI, RGB (mini D-sub 15-pin), composite video, and audio minijack. Other ports include RS-232, USB, an SDHC card slot, and a built-in Kensington lock slot.

The camera, which is compatible with USB thumb drives and SDHC memory cards, can display documents up to 11 x 17 inches, and record movies with audio up to 640 x 480 at 30 FPS. The device can also be used as a webcam, and software is compatible with Mac OS X and Windows-based computers and interactive whiteboards.

The SDP-960 is available now at a street price of about $2,159. Further information about the SDP-960 can be found on Samsung's presentation site.
