HP Opens Cloud Services Private Beta

HP has extended an invitation to the private beta program of its new HP Cloud Services for developing, testing, and running applications. HP Cloud Services is the newest addition to the HP cloud portfolio, which already includes HP CloudSystem and HP Enterprise Cloud Services.

With Cloud Services, HP said it's looking to provide the next generation of cloud infrastructure, platform services, and cloud solutions for developers, independent software vendors (ISVs), and organizations, with the aim of making public cloud services open and transparent from end-to-end across APIs, infrastructure, and the software stack.

HP Cloud Services are based on HP hardware and software, including HP Converged Infrastructure and HP Enterprise Software. It also includes integration of the OpenStackinfrastructure cloud open source project through a Web-based user interface and open representational state transfer (RESTful) APIs.

The first two services in the HP Cloud Services private beta are HP Cloud Compute and HP Cloud Object Storage.

Cloud Compute enables organizations to deploy compute instances on demand, customize those instances as needed, and add new instances for fast scalability.

Cloud Object Storage provides organizations with on-demand, scalable online storage capacity for archiving and backing up data, serving static content for Web applications, and storing large quantities of online files and media.
