eIQnetworks Security Tool Gives Taste of Situational Awareness

eIQnetworks has released a beta version of a new security utility for maintaining "situational awareness." SecureVue Express is a free download with a five-node perpetual license that allows a security administrator to stay informed about security and compliance through multiple channels.
"With SecureVue Express, IT personnel can collect, correlate, report, and analyze all security data to address modern security threats like [advanced persistent threats] and cyber attacks," said Bryan Cote, director of product management. The challenge, he added, is that as the attacks become more sophisticated, staying on top of relevant security data becomes more challenging. A situational awareness tool pulls multiple streams of data together into a central program for a more comprehensive understanding about what's going on in the IT environment.
Core functionality of the program includes:
- Log and event management, the ability to collect, correlate, and report on logs and other event-based data from network devices, servers, and applications;
- Configuration analysis, to detect configuration changes and capture configuration snapshots for revealing changes and trends to identify violations;
- Asset analysis to consolidate the archiving, tracking, and management of hardware and software, and identify unauthorized software installations;
- Collection of performance and availability data;
- Analysis of data from vulnerability scanners;
- Network flow analysis to monitor network, user, and application usage;
- Forensic analysis for investigation of complex security incidents;
- Multi-data cross-correlation to pass security data through a single correlation engine; and
- Reporting, with 1,000 built-in security and operation reports.
When users choose to upgrade to the full, paid application, the company said, they'll be able to continue using the same data they've already generated.
