SOTI Unveils MobiControl Mobile Device Management for Education

SOTI, a provider of enterprise mobile device management (MDM) and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policy management solutions, has announced a new mobility management solution for K-12 schools and higher education, MobiControl for Education. SOTI is exhibiting MobiControl for Education at the FETC 2013 conference taking place in Orlando, FL this week.

MobiControl for Education enables schools to manage their mobile assets, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Schools can view device information in real time, diagnose and repair issues remotely, and install and update educational apps remotely without disrupting students. In case of device theft or loss, the remote lock and wipe capabilities also enable schools to prevent third parties from accessing sensitive data on the devices.

MobiControl for Education is designed to help schools enforce responsible use of mobile technology in the classroom, whether it's a school or student-owned device. The software includes Web filtering and application management tools.

"MobiControl for Education is a mobility management solution tailored specifically for the classroom," said Charlie Grieco, executive director of strategic partnerships for SOTI, in a prepared statement. "Our unique approach goes beyond standard device management into mobile application management, responsible use, and location based services that deliver peace of mind for administrators and educators as well as a highly engaging learning experience for students."

Key features of MobiControl for Education include:

  • Advanced security, including geofencing, remote lock and wipe, and password enforcement;
  • Remote Control for one-to-one assistance;
  • Web filtering technology;
  • Kiosk Mode for primary students and special education applications; and
  • Classroom App Catalog for managing educational applications.

MobiControl for Education supports Android, iOS, and Windows mobile devices.

MobiControl for Education is available now. SOTI offers educational pricing for K-12 and higher education customers.
