Ellucian Adds Competency-Based Ed LMS

Ellucian is adding a competency-based education learning management system to its portfolio of higher education software and services, with the acquisition of LMS technology from Helix Education. The cloud-based product will integrate with the company's Banner and Colleague student information systems.

"We're excited to now be part of Ellucian," said Pankaj Sharma, former Helix Education executive and new vice president of product and engineering at Ellucian. "Combining the capabilities of Ellucian's portfolio with the power of this solution will reset the standard for an integrated learning environment. We're going to take learner analytics to a whole new level."

A new 2015 development partner program will allow customers to collaborate with Ellucian on the product.

The company also announced that Banner and Colleague will be available as cloud-based systems by the end of 2016, joining existing cloud offerings Ellucian Elevate, Ellucian Perform and Ellucian Recruiter.
