MIT Gives Users Cloud-Based Access to Work

MIT has implemented Office 365 for its user community. The school has rolled out the enterprise version of Microsoft's cloud-based subscription version of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. These productivity programs have versions of apps for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Windows RT 8.1 devices.

With these apps installed, Information Systems and Technology told its users, "You can view, create and edit Office documents from your mobile device."

The new implementation will also enable people on Apple and Google devices to store and share Office files through Dropbox and access Dropbox from the apps as long as they also have the Dropbox app installed. MIT expected to add Dropbox integration for Windows devices during the summer, when Windows 10 ships.

Configurations of Office 365 are also in use at the University of Miami in Florida, the University of Iowa and California State University, Fullerton, among other institutions.
