University of Utah Expands Online Career Training

The University of Utah is partnering with online training provider Career Step to launch new programs that will prepare students for careers in healthcare, technology and administration.

"We are excited to expand our community offerings by teaming up with Career Step," said Anne O'Brien, assistant dean of continuing education programs at the University of Utah, in a statement. "We are particularly excited about the opportunities these online training programs will provide to military families looking to improve their employment opportunities and healthcare organizations that need training for their employees. We are pleased to join forces with Career Step to help Utahans gain the skills they need for professional success."

The new Career Step programs, offered by the University of Utah's Continuing Education Department, will include Medical Transcription Editing, Professional Medical Coding and Billing, Medical Administrative Assistant With HER, and Pharmacy Technician. The university will also deploy Career Step's corporate training courses for healthcare organizations, which are designed to help healthcare managers efficiently train new and existing employees.

According to the company, Career Step programs "incorporate feedback from employers, with many of the courses preparing students to earn third-party certifications. Specific industry associations have also evaluated the courses, and students receive extensive graduate support to help turn their educations into jobs."
