UMass Dartmouth Builds Out Hybrid Offerings with Help from UMassOnline

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth campus is extending its online and hybrid education offerings with the addition of new degree programs and certificates targeted at people who need to complete their degrees. The expansion is being supported by the university system's centralized online institution, UMassOnline, which is delivering technical and marketing services.

The seven new programs include bachelor's degrees in accounting, crime and justice studies, history and a combined major in sociology and anthropology. The certificates cover accounting, computer science and autism.

The hybrid approaches being taken by the university are a mix of online, on-campus and blended courses, which vary from course to course within the same program. In several cases the students are also expected to participate in internships. The online delivery platform being used is Blackboard.

Since its launch in 2001, UMassOnline has introduced online versions of 140 degrees and certificates for the system and delivers 1,500 online courses each year.
