U San Diego Turns to the Cloud to Protect Student Data

The University of San Diego is moving its privileged account management to the cloud, as part of an overall effort to take a cloud-first approach to IT functions. After beta testing Thycotic's Secret Server Cloud, the university rolled out the live version last month to streamline the use and oversight of privileged accounts on campus.

"The IT department at the University of San Diego believes in a cloud-first mentality," explained Mike Somerville, manager of systems support and chief cloud evangelist at the university, in a statement. "Privileged access of our students' data is going to be safe in Thycotic's cloud and that needed to be transparent for our team. USD has been with Thycotic and the Secret Server product for the last seven years. From a business perspective, Secret Server Cloud allowed everyone to log in to the same single point of success that they already trusted for their passwords."
