Instructure, Kimono Partnership Opens Up Canvas SIS Integration

Instructure has partnered with Kimono to extend the latter's cloud-based interoperability platform to all Canvas users. Kimono was previously only available on Canvas to premium users, but the partnership allows admin to use Kimono for bidirectional student information system (SIS) integration.

Canvas has a number of partner managed SIS integrations that allow external partners to supply data integrations using Canvas open APIs, including Genius SIS, JMC, RenWeb and Sungard (with the last two in development by the vendors).

“The new partnership [with Kimono] solves the problem of keeping customers’ course data and rosters synchronized between their SIS and Canvas, and enables Canvas customers to do things not possible with other integration options, such as enabling grade passback and supporting customized configurations by school building,” according to a news release.

For an additional cost, Canvas customers can extend the integration to connect other applications like G Suite by Google or Follett Destiny.

Further information about SIS integrations is available on the Canvas Community Admin Group site.
