Indiana U Service Takes Single Application for Multiple Campuses

Students applying to multiple Indiana University campuses can now do so through a single application and fee. The "Apply to IU" service allows a first-time freshman or transfer student to submit one application and direct it to any of the eight campuses across the state that make up the university. Besides paying one application fee, the candidate also needs to provide just a single copy of a transcript and official test scores and submit one essay. For multiple submissions, admissions officers from each school site will independently review the application and send their admission decisions.
Under the new program international students may apply to one IU campus and then resubmit their application to other campuses along with transcripts and test scores; however, each campus submission requires a separate application fee.
"Submitting college applications can be stressful for students, and we believe 'Apply IU' can greatly simplify the process," said John Applegate, executive vice president for university academic affairs. "The process will also be more efficient as IU campuses can share application information and related materials, and the financial burden of multiple applications will be eased by charging one fee across all campuses.
The university system already participates in two other online services intended to simplify the college admissions process: the Common Application and the Coalition Application Portal. The first is used by 700 colleges and universities. The second was more recently developed by the Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success and has been adopted by about 90 institutions.
