New IBM Associate Partner to Focus on Open Source in Higher Education

Mark A. Olson has joined IBM Global Business Services as an associate partner, with responsibilities for higher education strategy and a primary focus on open source initiatives and higher education business administration. Olson has a long career in higher education administrative services.

He served for three years as NACUBO’s EVP and chief operating officer, and prior to that for several years a vice president for Sallie Mae. He was also deputy vice president for student administrative services at Columbia University and worked for more than 10 years at the University of Southern California, leading student information systems development, enrollment management, and student financial aid efforts. Olson has an extensive list of publications and speaking engagements in his field, including two books published by NACUBO, E-Business in Higher Education: What You Need to Know, and The Business Value Web.
