Extron Launches AV Controllers

Extron has introduced a new triple gang wall mounted touch panel controller with a 3.5-inch touch screen. The company has also unveiled an Ethernet control processor, a series of matrix switchers, two series of modular switcher boards, and two series of video to IP encoder/decoders.


Extron's TLP 350MV touch panel controller

Touch Panel AV Controller
The touch panel controller, dubbed the TLP 350MV, uses an Ethernet port to connect to an IP Link-enabled control processor. Once connected, the two devices can control and monitor a large range of A/V equipment, including displays, source devices, switchers, and projectors.

The touch panel features a 3.5-inch touch screen with automatic dimming and a motion sensor that wakes the panel from energy saver mode.

Other features include support for Power over Ethernet (PoE), a volume knob, eight configurable back-lit buttons, built-in speakers, automatic clock synchronization, a sleep timer, and global configuration software.

Memory includes 8 MB of SDRAM for system use, 16 MB SDRAM for graphics processing, 7 MB of flash memory for project storage, and 1 MB of flash memory for system use.

Ethernet Control Processor
The Ethernet control processor, model IPL 500, offers eight configurable IR/S ports, eight bi-directional serial ports, four flex I/O ports, four relays, and four switched DC ports.

It features an IP Link interface with built-in Web server and an Integrated IR learner that grabs IR remote codes from hand held controls. For setup, a large device driver library and global configuration software ship with the processor.

Other features include e-mail notification of service and failure messages, LED indicators, password protection, internal clock and support for the following communication protocols: TCP, IP, IMCP, UDP, DHCP, ARP, SMTP, and Telnet.


Extron's MTPX Plus 6400 series of matrix switchers

Matrix Switchers
Also announced by Extron, the MTPX Plus 6400 series of matrix switchers consists of a total of 12 twisted pair switchers with I/O sizes ranging from 64 x 64 to 16 x 48.

The switchers use Ethernet monitoring and offer both dynamic equalization to store adjustments for each output and input while maintaining RGB color alignments and extended display identification data (EDID) for communication between devices.

Other features include switchable video pre-peaking, local audio muting, volume adjustment, two AC power inputs, global presets, and an MTP signal generator.


Extron's SMX DVI series modular switcher boards

Modular Switcher Boards
The two series of modular switcher boards include the SMX HDMI and the SMX DVI. The SMX HDMI series routes HDMI video signals with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP), while the SMX DVI series routes DVI-D video signals.

Models under the SMX HDMI series include the SMX 44 HDMI, SMX 48 HDMI, SMX 84 HDMI, and SMX 88 HDMI, the model numbers designating the number of ports. The SMX DVI series consists of the SMX 44 DVI, the SMX 48 DVI, the SMX 84 DVI, and the SMX 88 DVI.

Both series of switchers support EDID and video sources up to 1,920 x 1,200 (WUXGA) and 1080p.

Features specific to the HDMI series include audio breakaway, which separates embedded audio signals allowing them to be attached to different video sources, and automatic output re-clocking.


Extron's VN-Matrix 300 series encoder

Video to IP Encoders
Also released by Extron are two series of video to IP encoders and decoders: the VN-Matrix 200 series and the VN-Matrix 300 series.

The 200 series consists of eight devices that were designed to send transmissions through IP networks while using the DVI standard. The devices included a recorder, an encoder, a decoder, two codecs, a primary and secondary controller, and a software viewer.

The 300 series, which includes a total of seven individual units, allows for streaming of SDI formatted video over IP networks. The series consists of a recorder, three codecs, and three decoders, one each for SDI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI formats.

The 200 series supports computer resolutions up to 1,920 x 1,200 and offers 24 Hz to 85 Hz refresh rates, a S/PDIF audio interface, and gigabit dual network interfaces, while the 300 series offers support for resolutions up to 1080p, genlockable decoders, SNMP network monitoring, and bit rates ranging from 150 Mbps to 6 Mbps.
