Baton Rouge CC deploys Business Management Software To Manage Department Workflows

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) plans to implement business process management (BPM) software that will automate and streamline the core workflow processes of its admissions, human resources, administration, and IT departments.

For the project, the college selected Process Director from PB Logix, Web-based software that defines, automates, manages, and reports on business processes. Process Director provides integrated reporting, workflow software, electronic forms, content management, dashboard, portal, and application integration. Process Director, which requires no coding, features an intuitive graphical user interface that allows users to drag-and-drop and reuse objects, a Word-based electronic form builder, and the company's patented Process Timeline technology that uses real-time metrics to predict when deadlines will be missed.

Key Features Include:

  • Automatic notifications;
  • Collaboration management;
  • Customizable notations and templates;
  • Data import and export, mapping, and transformation;
  • Lifecycle management;
  • Model object reuse;
  • Process analysis, capture, tracking, and map abstractions; and
  • Rule-based modeling

The community college plans an initial launch of the automating process in the HR and IT departments by the end of August, with other departments expected to follow shortly after.

"Our initial criteria was to not burden IT with designing, building, and maintaining a solution, so ease of use was important," said Ron Solomon, chief information officer at Baton Rouge Community College, in a prepared statement. "We wanted anyone to be able to put together a workflow and process. As importantly, I wanted to push the responsibility back to the departments needing to produce the workflow. By doing so they will have ownership and can have the process do exactly what they want it to."

Baton Rouge Community College is a two-year post-secondary community college located in Louisiana. BRCC enrolls more than 8,900 undergraduate students at its 60-acre campus and offers education paths for students to transfer to four-year colleges and universities, community education programs, developmental education, distance learning, and workforce and continuing education programs.
