Cisco Debuts Online Learning Platform
Cisco has unveiled a new education platform that integrates with its online meetings and video conferencing platform, as well as its team communications service, in an effort to add simplicity and security to online classes
Announced at the Educause 2016 conference, the new Digital Education Platform integrates with Cisco’s WebEx and Spark services into existing learning management systems such as Canvas, Moodle, Brightspace and Blackboard. The platform enables higher ed faculty to schedule online classes more easily and securely from within their LMSs, and manage other tasks like:
- Attendance records;
- Downloading, viewing and streaming recordings; and
- Recruitment and retention.
The platform also enhances Cisco’s Digital Learning and Digital Campus networks, explained Renee Patton, director of education for United States Public Sector at Cisco, at an Educause breakout session titled “Create Virtual Learning Environments to Improve the Student Experience.”
“Cisco is committed to helping colleges and universities improve the student experience by giving learners more ways to connect, engage, learn and succeed,” said Patton.
Faculty from Cisco’s partner universities Georgia State University, Utah State University and Mercer University discussed their institutions’ experiences using the Digital Education Platform during the session.
Cisco is exhibiting in booth 1101 at the Educause 2016 conference.
