Texas Tech Adds Coding Academy to Increase Access to Job Training

Texas Tech University and Austin Coding Academy are joining forces to train students for careers in web development and software engineering. The Texas Tech Coding Academy is a new part-time web development program to give students the skills to join the technology workforce.

Accepted students will go through a 32-week part-time class to develop full-stack web development skills with a focus on JavaScript. The "practical, project-based curriculum" will give students the tools to become professional web developers and each student will have access to unlimited tutoring included in their tuition.

In October, the Texas Tech Coding Academy will welcome its first cohort of students at Texas Tech at Highland Lakes.

"Twenty-first century education includes degree programs, graduate education and industry certifications and trainings," said Justin Louder, associate vice provost for eLearning & Academic Partnerships at Texas Tech. "Adding a coding academy in the Hill Country will provide increased access to job training opportunities to meet 21st century needs without leaving your home community."

More information about the program can be found on the Texas Tech Coding Academy's website.
