Othot Expands Student Success Offerings

Data analytics company Othot has released Student Success Essential, a lower-cost version of its flagship Student Success Premier retention platform. The new product is designed for colleges with limited funding or access to data, covering essential analytics at a lower price point with a quick-start implementation timeline.

"There are patterns and indicators for why students drop out of college that can be identified but without advanced analytics, college enrollment managers are operating in the dark," explained Fred Weiss, CEO of Othot, in a statement. "We are offering Student Success Essential as a lighter solution because while not every college has the capability to utilize all the deep capabilities of our Premier offering, nearly every college can benefit from Othot's unique machine learning and AI analysis of several basic data points."

Student Success Essential uses analytics to identify students at risk of dropping out and then determine which interventions will meaningfully improve retention, according to the company. The platform can help advisers manage priorities and strengthen relationships with their students. It can also monitor changes in student financial needs and match them to available aid resources.

"Othot's platform provides the types of real-time, in-depth AI that help affect change," said Chris Kitas, executive director of Institutional Research Planning & Assessment at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, an early adopter of the technology. "For instance, why would a student with a 3.5 GPA leave? What was wrong? I had my hypotheses. The platform opened my eyes and provided answers to some of the questions that we had. It gives us all a better sense of where we're going with our students, and how we can make sure they're retained and graduate."
