Cengage Expands Free Career Center Resources

Cengage Career Center

Education technology company Cengage is adding more than 100 new employability modules within its Cengage Unlimited course materials subscription service. The free resources are designed to help students assess their career skills, explore job opportunities, learn how to network, prepare for work and more.

The Career Success Tips resource center comprises three areas:

  • Get Career Ready, featuring videos, quizzes and activities to help students build skills such as communication, digital literacy, critical thinking, professionalism and adaptability on the job;
  • Explore Careers, designed to help students find jobs that align with their skills and interests; and
  • Get the Job, offering job search tips and help with résumé writing, cover letters, portfolios and interview preparation, as well as advice on professional communication, critical thinking and other workplace skills.

"The number one reason students attend college is to get a job, so it's a major problem if half of graduates don't feel ready for the workforce," said Fernando Bleichmar, executive vice president and general manager for U.S. higher education at Cengage, in a statement. "Students often aren't even aware how the skills they have map to different jobs that are available to them. We need to do more to ensure students are job ready, not just degree-ready. The new employability modules in Cengage Unlimited are an important step in the right direction."

The career resources are free to Cengage Unlimited and Cengage Unlimited eTextbooks subscribers. For more information, visit the Cengage site.
