Vernier Software & Technology Rebrands with STEM Focus

Vernier Software & Technology has changed its name to Vernier Science Education to more closely reflect the company's focus on providing hands-on, socially relevant STEM education tools and resources, according to a news announcement.

"With this name change, we want to make it clear that we're dedicated to using our experience in science education to partner with educators and communities to develop the next generation of knowledgeable citizens who can solve problems, contribute to their communities, and drive innovation," said CEO John Wheeler.

Job opportunities and wages in STEM-related fields are expected to continue growing over the next decade, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Vernier noted, and the supply of STEM-proficient workers is not keeping up with demand.

Vernier offers comprehensive science education solutions, which include hardware, software, content, professional development, and technical support, and assessments will be launching in the near future, the company said.

Also in the works is an online platform to help students dive further into STEM concepts, to be called Vernier Connections, the company said. It is expected to launch next year and will include "enhanced Vernier experiments; hands-on data collection and analysis using Vernier probeware; and newly developed, socially relevant, real-world learning experiences," and will allow educators to customize content, create and share experiments, assign work, and assess student comprehension.
