Innovative Tools to Improve Student Success Take Top Honors at 1EdTech Conference

Nonprofit open-ecosystem collaborative 1EdTech Consortium recently awarded top honors to six higher education institutions for their development of “innovative and bold” ed tech tools that broaden access to personalized and accessible learning.

1EdTech recognized the projects during its recent Learning Impact Conference, the organization said in a news release.

Platinum Awards went to Pennsylvania State University for its data analytics program and University of Central Florida for its adaptive learning program created with Realizeit, 1EdTech said.

“Penn State’s Course Insights provides data and analytics to convey learning-related insights to instructors and gives them a holistic view of the student learning experience,” the organization said. “This allows instructors to adapt their courses, monitor the impact of those changes over time, and support a reflective teaching process.”

University of Central Florida’s Adaptive Learning program expands the campus’ capabilities in offering adaptive learning, online homework and assessments, “making it easier for educators to tailor lessons, and offers more flexibility for students to complete their work,” 1EdTech said.

“The 1EdTech community is constantly looking toward the future of digital teaching and learning and what we need to power learner potential,” said 1EdTech CEO Rob Abel. "The Learning Impact Awards program offers exemplary projects with clear evidence of improving learning impact and outcomes that other institutions can replicate. This year’s award winners represent the best of the best, moving us all toward an open, trusted and innovative digital ecosystem.”

Other 2023 Learning Impact Award Winners include:

  • The Stanford Center for Professional Development and BCdiploma won a Gold Award for their program, “Partnership for Personalized and Verifiable Blockchain Credentials.”

  • The University of Maryland Global Campus won a Gold Award for its “MARS: UMCG’s Virtual and AI Applied Learning Environment” program.

  • Iowa State University and VitalSource won a Silver Award for their “Applying AI-Generated Practice to Textbooks to Improve Teaching and Learning” program.

  • Kennesaw State University won a Bronze Award for its Micro-Credential Initiative.

1EdTech said Learning Impact Awards finalists are “judged on their impact on personalized learning, institutional performance, and the digital learning ecosystem as they address the most significant challenges facing education and lifelong learning.” Judges from 1EdTech choose the winners following presentations by and interviews with educators, as well as evaluations from Learning Impact conference attendees and the ed tech community at large, according to the news release.
