Montclair State University Taps David Chun as Chief Information Officer

Montclair State University in New Jersey has appointed David Chun as its chief information officer (CIO) to oversee all aspects of information technology for the university. He will assume the role on May 1, 2024.

Chun brings decades of experience in public and private institutions as a CIO as well as a professor committed to student success, the university said.

He most recently served as CIO and associate vice president at Sonoma State University. Before that he was CIO and associate vice president at Hamline University in St. Paul, assistant dean at the University of Miami's Herbert Business School, and in charge of IT for several Fortune 500 companies.

In his new role at Montclair, Chun will be responsible for IT planning, management, and oversight across all divisions on campus and the university's Division of Information Technology, including personnel management.

Specifically, his duties will include planning and managing wired and wireless networks, IT security, the student information system, human resources and payroll, the application portal, the identity and access management system, and providing technical support for students, faculty, and staff.

Chun received his bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is pursuing an advanced degree from Georgia Institute of Technology.
