Haiku Updates Learning Management System

Education software developer Haiku Inc. has released an update to its learning management system, Haiku LMS. The new 2.0 release, which launched June 20, adds a variety of functional and UI enhancements. A 2.1 upgrade is also expected within the next few weeks.

Haiku describes its LMS as a Web 2.0 learning management system, whose focus "is to provide web-based learning management software for educators that "acts" like a desktop application but facilitates collaboration and innovation." The new 2.0 release adds in several enhancements, including:

  • New discussion capabilities;
  • Drop box functionality;
  • A secure Inbox; and
  • UI enhancements, including new skin designs.

A forthcoming version 2.1 will also add in a new dashboard function to provide account management and reporting features for administrators. It's expected to be released within the next few weeks.
