Italian Campus Chooses Alcatel-Lucent for WiFi Network

The University of Calabria in Arcavacata, Italy has chosen Alcatel-Lucent products for a WiFi network that will provide network access on the 494-acre campus.

The new network is based on OmniAccess Wireless switches and includes indoor/outdoor WiFi access points, OmniSwitch 6850 wired data switches, network management software and network policy enforcement and security technology. In addition, the company is providing the site survey, radio design, hardware and software integration, installation and commissioning of the network. The network will support data applications and is designed to support future voice-over-IP applications and fixed and mobile convergence, the company said.
