Moodlerooms and DubMeNow Developing Mobile Campus Apps

Two companies are teaming up to create mobile applications for education. Moodlerooms, which develops education programs that run on the open source course management system Moodle, will be working with DubMeNow, which creates mobile software. The two vendors will use DUB, DubMeNow's mobile platform, to integrate with joule, Moodlerooms' learning management platform.

The new application will feed campus events, news, and course and contact information to smartphones, including the Apple iPhone, RIM Blackberry, Android, Symbian, and Windows for Mobile.

DUB includes an ID feature that allows users to exchange contact information by clicking a Locate button on the application. It also announces new contact cards sent and received as updates on Twitter. The program can also capture the date when a user met someone as well as the location on Google Maps.

"Moodlerooms' partnership with DubMeNow puts us on the forefront of mobile education technology," said Moodlerooms vice president Joe McAvoy. "We are pushing forward to provide campuses with solutions that encourage communication, collaboration, and education without traditional boundaries."
