Center for Digital Education Report Offers Tips for Funding Ed Tech
The Center for Digital Education has released a new research paper, "Funding Lecture Capture in Higher Education."
Funded by McGraw-Hill's Tegrity, the paper offers "various strategies for funding lecture capture solutions and enabling administrators to clear the financial hurdles they may face," according to information released by the company.
Suggestions for funding technology improvements include:
- Seeking non-governmental grants offered by public and private philanthropies, such as those listed at edfunders.org;
- Partnerships with businesses;
- Use of federal funds such as those offered by the United States Department of Labor to prepare students for the work force; and
- Spreading technology costs across several campus budgets, such as general funds, maintenance, and IT funds.
"Given the recent budget constraints that higher education institutions are experiencing as a result of the loss of federal funding, it is clear that administrators must search for alternative ways to secure the funds needed to maintain their institution’s technology leadership," said LeiLani Cauthen, Vice President of the Center for Digital Education.
