Edvance360 LMS-SN Gets Support for Digital Badges

Edvance360 LMS-SN has added support for digital badges through integration with Credly, a credentialing and badging service.

Edvance360 LMS-SN combines learning management and academic social networking in a secure, online hosted learning environment that provides collaboration tools, support for distance education, course and lesson creation, extensive grade and assessment tools, and tracking and report generation, among other capabilities.

Credly, meanwhile, describes itself as "a universal way to recognize, store and share life's achievements." It allows organizations and individuals to become issuers of "credit" for accomplishments, which often take the form of digital badges that individuals can earn for their accomplishments and display on their resumes, job boards, blogs, etc. Credly provides the platform to connect issuers with earners and to manage and verify their badges. Credly is accessible on the Web and via mobile applications. Other features include:

  • Open Badge Infrastructure-compliant;
  • An available API, called Open Credit;
  • Support for custom icons for badges; and
  • Support for WordPress via the BadgeOS plugin.

"Meaningful badges and credentials help learners mark and share their skills, knowledge and contributions," said Jonathan Finkelstein, Credly founder and CEO, in a prepared statement. "Credly empowers anyone to acknowledge and certify achievement they facilitate, observe or assess. With the Credly 'Open Credit' API seamlessly integrated into the Edvance360 experience, learners are recognized for a wide range of learning activities and outcomes, and they can easily share and manage their earned credentials through Credly for a lifetime."
