U Cincinnati Partners with CBTS for IT Education
The University of Cincinnati (UC) and CBTS, a technology solutions provider and subsidiary of Cincinnati Bell, have formed a partnership to connect information technology students from the university's College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) with industry professionals from CBTS.
CBTS provides managed services for end-to-end IT deployments. According to information released by CBTS, the partnership will give UC IT students access to CBTS laboratories, technologies, and executive IT professionals. UC faculty also plan to collaborate with CBTS employees to revise the college's IT curriculum based on current industry topics.
"Having the opportunity to work with IT professionals from local businesses will add more depth to our courses that will benefit us beyond the textbook," said David Tromblay, a senior in the UC IT program, in a prepared statement.
John Burns, president and general manager of CBTS, hopes to expand the company's partnership with UC in the future "to connect the different disciplines in the college with other community projects CBTS is involved in."
According to CBTS, the partnership will benefit the company by providing employees with exposure to the university's classrooms and by contributing to the development of the future IT professionals.
The University of Cincinnati is a public research university has a student population of 42,000 students. The College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services, which includes the Department of Information Technology, serves approximately 5,500 undergraduate and graduate students.
