Versal Course Creation Tool Adds Chrome App, LTI Compatibility

Versal has added a Chrome app and learning tools interoperability (LTI) to its course creation tool, also called Versal.

The Chrome app, currently in beta, allows teachers in classrooms using Chromebooks or computers with Chrome browsers to easily share Versal lessons and homework with students. The app also allows teachers to enroll students from an admin dashboard and automatically authenticates students based on their Chromebook credentials.

With the new LTI integration, teachers can easily embed Versal assignments in a learning management system (LMS). Additional upgrades designed to further integrate the tool with popular learning management systems is currently underway, according to information released by the company.

"From the get-go, we've aspired to make online learning not only accessible to all teachers and highly interactive, but open," according to an entry about the updates on the company's blog. "Meaning that the lessons and courses aren't just available via Versal.com, but are embeddable in virtually any Web site or blog."

More information about the Chrome app is available at versal.com/chrome. Information on embedding Versal courses in learning management systems, with specific tips on Blackboard, Canvas, Edmodo and Schoology is available at versal.com.
