CollegeWeekLive, National Honor Society Team up on Virtual College Fair
CollegeWeekLive and the National
Honor Society will partner on a virtual college fair in May to acquaint outstanding
high
school juniors and other underclassmen with colleges and universities
that may
be interested in recruiting them.
CollegeWeekLive
is a digital platform that
enhances communications between higher education institutions and
prospective
students, providing a way for students and their parents to have live
chats
with admissions officers at a number of colleges and universities. The
National
Honor Society is a 95-year-old organization that recognizes high school
students in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.
The
virtual college fair, scheduled May 17, will
enable as many as 1 million National Honor Society members from around
the
country to live chat with admissions counselors and current students at
colleges and universities around the world.
The
goal, for the students, is to learn more
early on about colleges they may be interested in and to winnow down
the list
of schools they are interested in considering.
"National
Honor Society students are highly
motivated to find their right college match and they will appreciate
being able
to chat directly with admissions counselors early in their research
process,"
said Jonathan Mathis, director of the National Honor Societies.
Meanwhile,
the higher education institutions will
have access to high-achieving students who they may be interested in
recruiting.
"It's
rewarding to give colleges the opportunity
to connect directly with students who not only have top academic
skills, but
who exemplify strong character and leadership," said CollegeWeekLive
President
