Internet2 Adds Videoconferencing Platform to Net+

A video conferencing and collaboration platform has been added to the list of service providers for Internet2’s Net+ initiative.

Zoom, used by nearly 6,000 schools across the country, makes it easy for educators and administrators to set up online meetings, group messaging and more. As part of the Net+ initiative, which helps institutions accelerate the adoption of cloud solutions, the Net+ Zoom service “enhances collaboration among educators and administrators and allows schools to expand their impact across geographies to reach more students and offer new learning opportunities,” according to a prepared statement.

"We have deployed Zoom widely at Notre Dame to our students, faculty and administrators because the video technology is a good fit for higher education due to its features and fine quality,” said Paul Drake, product services, Office of Information Technologies at the University of Notre Dame, in a statement. “Their partnership with Internet2 will provide a framework for new institutions to benefit from Zoom.”

Internet2 and Zoom will be hosting a webinar on NET+ Zoom on Dec. 6. The webinar will feature IT leadership from the University of Notre Dame and the University of New Hampshire, which have implemented the video communication solution at their institutions. To register, visit the Zoom site.
