NYC Data Science Bootcamp Launches Remote Program

A New York-based data science bootcamp has launched a new, online education program for long-distance learners.

The NYC Data Science Academy (NYCDSA) has debuted its Remote Data Science Bootcamp, a full- or part-time online program that offers “comprehensive data science curriculum, interaction with peers and faculty and job placement assistance for students anywhere in the world with an internet connection who want to become a data science,” according to a news release. As an online extension of the in-person bootcamp, the Remote Data Science Bootcamp curriculum begins with basic programming and data analysis using R, Python and Hadoop, then delves into machine learning and big data techniques. Students will complete five “real-world data science projects” throughout, in order to demonstrate knowledge of coding concepts. (Examples of past and current student projects are available on the NYCDSA blog.)

Additionally, the Remote Data Science Program was designed as a collaborative experience, with online chat and community channels for students to work with each other on homework, projects, job applications and other assignments. Students can also obtain immediate feedback from instructors and teacher’s assistants via chat.

Data science was ranked No. 1 on Glassdoor’s “25 Best Jobs in America” list this year. NYCDSA boasts a 90 percent job placement rate. The Remote Data Science Bootcamp costs $16,000, with financing options available.

Further information is available on the NYCDSA site.
