New OLC Research Center Explores Digital Teaching and Learning

The Online Learning Consortium (OLC) is launching a new research center focused on digital teaching and learning.

The OLC Research Center offers "original, curated, commissioned and sponsored research opportunities, and consulting and presentation services in areas related to digital learning and digital leadership research" according to a news announcement. It also houses resources such as Online Learning, OLC's peer-reviewed journal, as well as podcasts and infographics. Topics covered include teaching and learning, instructional design/learning design, leadership, digital learning and more.

In addition, an Emerging Scholar program will focus on giving doctoral students increased visibility in the field.

"The launch of the OLC Research Center enables us to synthesize and expand upon OLC's existing research resources, providing a comprehensive research hub for the community," said Kathleen Ives, CEO and executive director of OLC, in a statement. "We are excited to be moving into original research, as we continue to feature other industry studies and collaborate with the OLC professional and institutional community to deliver the most relevant research possible."

"Our intention is that the OLC Research Center will give online learning professionals a new channel for discovering, publishing and sharing important research and insights that can benefit our global community," commented Jill Buban, OLC's senior director of research and innovation and director of the research center.
