Kahoot Now Integrates with Microsoft Teams

Kahoot in Microsoft Teams

Education technology company Kahoot has added integration with Microsoft Teams, allowing users to play Kahoot games while collaborating remotely via Teams’ web conferencing and chat tools.

Also, educators can assign games within a Teams channel as a group experience, with updates posted into the channel as the game proceeds. Final results show up on a virtual podium.

Kahoot has already published instructions for how to host its games within web conferencing programs. This is the first official integration to be announced, however.

To set up the integration, the instructor logs into the Teams account and installs the Kahoot app from the Teams apps page. Kahoot shows up as a tab in the relevant team channels. To assign a game, the faculty member chooses the "kahoot" from the list within Teams and selects "assign" to set up a challenge. Students will receive periodic reminders to take the challenge before the deadline. Once the deadline is over, podium results will be displayed.

"With the majority of the world's schools and businesses operating remotely due to COVID-19, now is the right time for this integration which meets the high demand we are seeing for both social interaction and distance learning from businesses and schools alike," said Kahoot CEO Eilert Hanoa, in a statement.

The company also announced that education tech expert Leslie Fisher will host a webinar on how to use Kahoot in remote learning. That takes place May 27, 2020 at 3 p.m. Central time. To register, visit the Kahoot website.
