Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Streamline Student Support with Disability Services Platform

The Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system has announced a statewide partnership with Symplicity, a provider of student services platforms for accessibility accommodations, career services and other areas. The goal: "bringing improved administrative operations to student conduct, Title IX, human resources, legal affairs, and disability services to CSCU's 12 community colleges, four universities and the state's online college," according to a news announcement.

CSCU first implemented Symplicity's Accommodate product in summer 2019, to handle workflows, accommodation requests and student support in disability services offices across the system's campuses. Now, the system is rolling out Symplicity Advocate, a solution for student conduct, Title IX and behavioral intervention management, at several campuses and at the system level. By streamlining paperwork, standardizing processes and enhancing communication across departments, the technology is helping CSCU schools proactively identify trends while giving administrators more time engaging with individual students.

Commented Daneen Huddart, learning disabilities specialist at CSCU's Northwestern Connecticut Community College: "Accommodate allows small offices to streamline the paperwork in a very efficient way so that it is possible to spend more one-on-one time helping our students with more in-depth communication and academic success."

"We have a double benefit here," noted Angelo Simoni, senior executive director for student relations & compliance at CSCU. "We are saving on implementation costs as we are standardizing our process and systems."
