U Minnesota Adopts Oracle Web Content Management System

The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and St. Paul has deployed Oracle Universal Content Management to allow those departments that have adopted it to manage content on their public Web sites. Currently, about 500 employees across 12 departments use the system. Before migrating to Oracle, Web page content was sequestered by department, according to the university, and users had to recreate page layouts for each site. Now, contributors can reuse existing content and page layouts across multiple sites.

"By improving the contribution process for our business users while offering more flexibility for our designers, Oracle Universal Content Management has helped enable the University of Minnesota to create a more vibrant, timely and informative online environment," said Steve Cawley, vice president and CIO.

Oracle Universal Content Management provides functionality that allows multiple people to contribute to Web sites. The software also allows for reporting on content metrics, such as update frequency, page increases, and individual contribution.
