Epson Projector with Integrated DVD Player and Speakers Now Available at Retail

The Epson PowerLite Presenter, which was introduced earlier this year to the education market, is now available at select retail stores. The retailers include Best Buy, OfficeMax, Staples, and Amazon.com. Estimated street price is $899.

For the last several years, Epson targeted the home theater market with a projector-DVD player combo. The PowerLite Presenter, using 3LCD technology, appears to be based on that same home theater projector, since the chassis design is similar. The professional-grade model has two 10-watt virtual surround sound speakers and closed captioning. It also includes USB Plug 'n' Play for displaying images and audio on both the projector and computer screen by connecting a USB cable.

The projector also has microphone input, allowing for voice amplification when narrating a presentation, using the built-in, dual 10-watt speakers and closed captioning decoder. The Epson PowerLite Presenter is specified at WXGA widescreen (16:10) resolution and 2,500 lumens of brightness. It weighs 9.5 lbs. It has auto color and image adjustments that automatically adjusts the color mode according to the to the ambient light. It also includes automatic keystone correction.
